2009-08-13: Guitar Legend Les Paul Dies At Age 94 !!!
LES PAUL, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on today. He was 94. According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. In 1952, Gibson Guitars began production on the Les Paul guitar. Pete Townsend of The Who, Steve Howe of Yes, jazz great Al DiMeola and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page all made the Gibson Les Paul their trademark six-string. Over the years, the Les Paul series has become one of the most widely used guitars in the music industry. In 2005, Christie's auction house sold a 1955 Gibson Les Paul for $45,600. Les will be missed by many !!!

2009-08-12: Alice In Chains Collaborate With Elton John On New Record !!!
ALICE IN CHAINS have revealed that ELTON JOHN makes a guest appearance on the band's upcoming album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", playing piano on the title track. Cantrell said that the song, is a tribute to their late lead singer, Layne Staley. Elton John said in a statement, "I've long been an admirer of Jerry Cantrell and when he asked me to play on "Black Gives Way To Blue", I was very flattered and couldn't resist. It was a great recording session with Alice In Chains for a beautiful song". "Black Gives Way To Blue" arrives in stores on September 29th and is the first new Alice In Chains album in 14 years. The album features the debut of the group with new lead singer and guitarist, William DuVall. Original frontman, Layne Staley died in 2002.

CREED is apparently working on the details for a 2009 reunion tour !!! The group disbanded in June of 2004, with singer Scott Stapp pursuing a solo career and the other three members of the group forming Alter Bridge with singer Myles Kennedy. While Kennedy has been rumored to be the singer for the Led Zeppelin offshoot, including Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham, as of now, a pseudo-Led Zeppelin tour is still just a rumor !!! But if it comes to be, the timing could be perfect for Creed to reunite !!!

The seven shows that were originally postponed due to illness have been scrapped because of conflicts in the superstar's schedule. 2008-06-17: Cinderella Postpones Summer Tour !!!
CINDERELLA had to postpone its upcoming tour after lead singer, Tom Keifer, was diagnosed with a hemorrhaging vocal cord, according to a statement on the band's website. Keifer felt his throat give way June 11 when the band was finishing its set in pre-production rehearsals. His Nashville doctor said it would be two to three weeks before the swelling and damage would recede to a point where an assessment can be made as to whether surgery will be required.

However, it appears that the tour’s lineup has leaked thanks to their artist page on Ticketmaster.com. According to Ticketmaster, the band will be bringing out BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, SIXX A.M., and TRAPT for their summer trek. Dates will be announced at the band’s conference on 4/15/08 at 7:00pm EST. VAN HALEN is slated to announce its reunion tour with David Lee Roth on Monday (Aug. 13) at 11:00 a.m. PST during a media event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. The tour is expected to begin in October and encompass 50 dates in North American arenas. The trek will feature founding VAN HALEN members David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen, with Eddie's son Wolfgang on bass.

VAN HALEN will announce a 50-date American arena reunion tour with original singer David Lee Roth during a news conference in Hollywood next week. The tour is slated to begin in early October. Diamond Dave will reunite with co-founders Eddie Van Halen on guitar and brother Alex Van Halen on drums. Eddie’s teenage son Wolfgang will take the place of original bass player, Michael Anthony (who has since the break-up of Van Halen, been touring with Sammy Hagar. Sammy took over the vocal spot after Dave departed Van Halen in the mid-1980s) A proposed summer amphitheater tour by the group never got off the ground, with Eddie Van Halen entering a rehabilitation facility for undisclosed reasons in March. In the months since, the guitarist has been seen publicly looking healthy and fit. 2007-02-15: The Police On Tour 2007 !!!!!!
Following an electrifying rehearsal performance at The Whiskey on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip, The Police confirmed their highly-anticipated concert tour will begin on May 28th in Vancouver, playing arenas, some stadiums & making some special appearances throughout North America. Some of the North American tour highlights announced include a headline performance at this year's July 16th Bonnaroo Festival, an appearance at Boston's historic Fenway Park on July 28th and two Madison Square Garden performances in New York City on August 1 and 3. Concert dates were also confirmed in Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, New Orleans, St. Louis, Toronto and Montreal.
Special guest Fiction Plane will join The Police for the North American portion of the tour. Known for their high-energy live shows, this dynamic rock trio will be releasing their 2nd full length album in May. Fiction Plane are: Joe Sumner (Bass); Seton Daunt (Guitar); Pete Wilhoit (Drums). Additional support artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Additional North American concert dates in Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Edmonton, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Tampa, San Francisco's Bay Area, Minneapolis/St. Paul and the Washington/Baltimore area will be announced in the next few weeks.
The tour will continue this fall with dates in the UK and Europe, including appearances in Holland, Germany, Italy and France with additional countries to be announced. Additional dates in Mexico, South America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand are anticipated.

2007-01-10: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2007 Inductees!!!
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith and Van Halen this spring!!!!
The inductees will be honored during a ceremony on March 12, 2007 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Presenters and performers appearing at the event will be announced in February.
The ceremony will also honor the late Ahmet Ertegun, the legendary co-founder of Atlantic Records who was also the chairman of the hall's Foundation and for whom the main exhibit hall in Cleveland's Rock Hall Museum is named after.
The inductees will be commemorated inside the Rock Hall Museum with their signatures inscribed in glass. There will also be an exhibit of artifacts and a multi-media film presentation honoring this year's inductees which will open in March 2007 and run until March 2008 for all to see!!!

New Album To Be Produced By Butch Walker (Rolling Stone Magazine's 2005 "Hot Producer Of The Year")
CBS and Mark Burnett Productions announced today that legendary musicians from some of the biggest American rock bands have joined forces to form a new band, Supernova, and will use CBS's ROCK STAR (working title) as the competition to determine the new lead singer.
Supernova will feature drummer Tommy Lee (Motley Crüe), Jason Newsted (Metallica) and Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses). The second edition of CBS's ROCK STAR will premiere on the Network this summer.
After the winning singer is selected on CBS's ROCK STAR, Supernova will record an original album, to be co-written and produced by Butch Walker (hit songwriter/producer for Avril Lavigne, Pink) that will be released in the fall before the band embarks on a world tour starting in early 2007.
Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke will return as hosts, with Burke returning to the stage for introductions and Navarro returning to the judges' couch for input and evaluations. "Last year, doing ROCK STAR: INXS was the greatest summer job of my life," Navarro affirmed. "This year, I'm on the couch with my friends Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted as they choose Supernova's lead singer."
This summer's edition of CBS's ROCK STAR will also feature some format twists with a different music celebrity or rock legend each week. Said Navarro, "Friends of mine, like Slash, Macy Gray, Moby and Rob Zombie, will join us and throw in their two cents about who should stay and who should go."
In the first season of CBS's ROCK STAR, rock sensation INXS found their new lead singer in Canadian heartthrob J.D. Fortune. Since the show, INXS has taken to the studio and the road, releasing their massive hit single "Pretty Vegas" and selling out every concert in their North American tour. Their new CD, "Switch," debuted in the Billboard Top 20, and is currently going gold and platinum in countries around the world.

Reactivated rockers THE CULT are reportedly holding drummer auditions in Los Angeles ahead of their U.S. tour kick-off, which is scheduled for March 1 in San Francisco, California, as Matt Sorum is currently the drummer for Velvet Revolver! Among the candidates for the drummer position is Cary Kane, who is said to have previously played with LIARS INC., PRETTY BOY FLOYD, POWDER and KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, among others. Kane reportedly auditioned for the group last week and has been called back for another session.
